Richy's Rescue Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct applies to all Directors, employees, volunteers, and associates affiliated with Richy's Rescue for Animals (RRA). The Code serves to provide guidelines for ethical behavior, conflict resolution, and standards of professionalism and respect.

1. Purpose

This Code outlines the ethical standards, professional behaviors, and expectations for everyone associated with RRA, emphasizing our commitment to the welfare of all animals, particularly those with special needs. We are also dedicated to promoting awareness about spaying and neutering programs and supporting those who cannot afford vet bills or medications for their pets.


2. Values

RRA is committed to:


Compassion: We believe in the dignity and worth of all animals, and strive to meet the needs of all animals, including those with disabilities.

Advocacy: We promote & fund spaying and neutering programs, especially within rural and First Nations communities, as a means to control the animal population responsibly.

Support: We provide financial assistance to those who cannot afford their pet’s vet bills or medications, or equipment to assist animals with disabilities or injuries. 

Integrity: We act ethically, honestly, and transparently.

Collaboration: We work in partnership with communities and other organizations to maximize our impact.


3. Ethical Behavior and Professionalism

3.1 Conflict of Interest

All those associated with RRA should avoid conflicts of interest. Any potential conflict must be disclosed to the Board of Directors.


3.2 Gifts and Donations

Gifts or donations must be handled with transparency. We should avoid accepting gifts that could be seen as bribes or that may influence our decision-making.


3.3 Confidentiality

Confidential information should not be disclosed unless required by law.

3.4 Harassment and Discrimination

RRA promotes a respectful and inclusive environment. Harassment and discrimination are not tolerated.


4. Legal Compliance

Everyone at RRA is required to comply with federal, provincial, and local laws, including laws regarding animal welfare, charity operations, and financial reporting.


5. Animal Welfare

Our commitment to animal welfare is paramount. We advocate for the humane treatment of all animals, especially those with special needs. Cruelty, neglect, or exploitation of any form is not tolerated.


6. Breach of Code

Breaches of this Code of Conduct will be investigated by the Board of Directors. Consequences may range from a verbal warning to legal action, depending on the severity.


7. Reporting and Whistleblower Protection

Any suspected violations of this Code should be reported to a Director or the Board of Directors. RRA is committed to protecting those who report violations from retaliation.
